Learn Japanese with Befa
Japanese is the official language of Japan, and it's spoken by
about 127 million people. Japanese is a member of the Japonic (or Japonic-Kanji) family,
which includes Korean and Chinese as well. It's also related to several other languages
like Ainu, Ryukyuan languages, and Okinawan languages.
Japanese is written with
a combination of three scripts: hiragana, katakana and kanji. Hiragana and katakana are
both syllabic scripts, while kanji uses logographic characters. The Japanese writing
system has developed through centuries from an original Chinese script known as “han”
or “kanbun” which was used to write Classical Chinese before it became simplified into
today's hanzi or kanji writing system during the Tang Dynasty.
It is one of the
most widely used languages in the world, and it is also considered to be one of the
easiest languages to learn for English speakers. The Japanese alphabet has 26 letters,
which are written from left to right with no spaces between them. There are two different
alphabets used in Japanese: Hiragana and Katakana.
