Learn Arabic with Befa

Arabic is a Semitic language closely related to Hebrew and Aramaic. It is the official language of 22 countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and parts of Europe. Arabic has more than 200 million native speakers worldwide.

It is written using Arabic script, which originated from the Aramaic alphabet. Arabic has many dialects, but they are all mutually intelligible. The most widely spoken dialects are Egyptian Arabic, Levantine Arabic and Maghrebi Arabic (also known as Moroccan).

In addition to these three main varieties of Modern Standard Arabic, there are also two other major types: Classical or Literary and Modern or Spoken. These four varieties of Modern Standard Arabic are mutually intelligible with one another; however, they differ slightly in their grammar and vocabulary.
